Eternidad

Eternity is endless, it’s timeless. Just like the love and the grief in the world, endless and timeless. Humans are so easily fooled by the way they recall memories, but they start to fade until the feeling tingles through you again familiar, and beautiful, but so faint.

My name is Solly, I am a Florida born black Dominican who does not care much for gender. I have been filmed and photographed since the day I popped out of the womb, so it was only natural that I too would want to remember everything. The smallest details preserved for recognition in the future, bringing together what your body remembers to the feelings of that day. In middle school, the Myspace age if you will, I had a small point and shoot that I would take self-portraits and portraits of my friends.

I spent every single day of high school taking photos of my friends and schoolmates, and yes I was absolutely in yearbook for three out of four of those years as a photographer and the Photoshop editor. During this time, while out at music events, I would sneak my camera under my shirt so that I could get shots of my favorite bands. College put a bit of a pause to everything until I graduated with my Bachelors and I started to roll right back into taking creative portraits, pet portraits, and some promotional ones as well for musicians and young professionals.

My approach to photography is learning to push past shame and being vulnerable enough about yourself that your earnest self shows through in the photos, be it at an engagement shoot, weddings, or just simple head shots. We all look our best when we are comfortable and relaxed, I find people have unique lights that tend to shine through under these conditions.

Thank you for your consideration in having me snap some gorgeous memories for you!
